Independent Movie Screenings
Helping you screen your London-made project on the big screen!
How It Works
Film London is teaming up with the Hyland Cinema to offer London filmmakers a chance to screen your movies the way they should be seen…on the BIG screen!
The Film London Independent Movie Screening (FLIMS) program allows Londoners to save 50% on their rental of the Hyland Cinema for either public or private screenings of locally made films.
To be eligible as “locally made,” one of the following must be true of your film:
75% of the locations/shooting days took place in London, Ontario.
OR
75% of the crew/talent were residents of London, Ontario at the time of production.
If your film meets either of the above criteria, we consider it locally made! Apply below!
Public vs. Private
The program supports both Public and Private screenings. To help understand which type of screening is for you, please see below.
Definition of a “Public” Screening:
A public screening means that it will be advertised to the public and tickets will be sold. Filmmakers will receive revenue from tickets sold (minus tax and 1.50 service fee). Tickets will be sold exclusively through the Hyland Cinema website and box office. Filmmakers should be aware that public screenings may affect their “Premiere” status when applying to film festivals.
Definition of a “Private” Screening:
A private screening means that the event will NOT be advertised and tickets will NOT be sold. Guests will be on an “invite only” basis and no revenue will be collected. Filmmakers will not receive revenue from the event. Private screenings allow films to retain “Premiere” status as the event is not public. Prices for the rental do not change for a private event.
