Abdul Abbasi is a Canadian film director, screenwriter, cinematographer and actor, who grew up in a family of doctors, lawyers and engineers in Dubai. The first one in his family to defy all odds and take a more ‘non-traditional’ career path in the family of film. He is a post-grad student at one of the top-ranking film schools in Canada, Fanshawe College, studying Cinema-Advanced Filmmaking of the Fine Arts. Ab took numerous workshops for filmmaking, editing, the art of lighting, screenwriting and film production, through which he developed a broad set of skills. Even though facing family backlash, Ab decided to switch his area of study from Health Sciences to Film back in 2018-19 and that was the best decision he had made after figuring out mixing chocolate and vanilla cake batter makes a cake to end all cakes. Now after studying Film and Television Production and producing numerous short films, a few commercials and a couple documentaries Ab finally has the support from his family and nothing is holding him back now. Abdul is a Creative Professional with 3-4 years of experience in managing and supporting crews in all stages of production, including writing, budgeting, filming, editing, marketing, pitching, acting and directing. Most of his work has been pitched and then voted on to produce by his classmates and professors. Lastly, Ab is mentored by industry-leading professors and is a very detail-oriented snowboard fanatic and an avid daydreamer.
