Megan Smith-Harris

Producer / Director / Screenwriter


Megan is a Canadian independent producer/writer/director who has helmed multiple long-form  documentaries in the U.S., including the Oscar-qualifying feature doc, TRIAL BY FIRE: LIVES RE-FORGED, which has been running on Amazon Prime since 2014 and played on PBS and PBS International for six years.  She produced/directed/wrote SURROGATE STORIES, a two-hour television special that aired nationally on WEtv in the U.S. (distributed internationally by Off The Wall) as well as the one-hour docs, CHILD BRIDES and POLYGAMY CULT. She produced the narrative feature, A STAGE OF TWILIGHT, starring Karen Allen and Bill Sadler, which premieres at the Woods Hole Film Festival in August 2022 and will be released in Spring 2023.

Megan is also an award-winning screenwriter, features writer, and playwright. She has worked extensively in Canada and the U.S. and is  available to help you bring your next project to fruition. If you’re looking for a producer who can multi-task,  a director who can inspire compelling performances or draw out compelling interviews,  you’ve  found her.

Our anchor position in Southwestern Ontario gives us access to rural, agricultural and unique small townscapes.  

We’re only 2 hours down the highway from Toronto, 1 ½ hours from Hamilton, and have an international airport, GoTrain and Via Rail access. Best of all, we boast a strong and growing local talent and crew capability. Our film office and the city are dedicated to providing location support, smooth permitting, access to reasonable accommodations and a positive production experience for local, national and international filmmakers.
